About
Tim Charlier is a Belgian musician whose deep passion for
the double bass emerged at the age of twelve.
He received his musical training at the Conservatoire Royal
de Liège, where he honed his craft under mentorship of Eric
Mathot, establishing a solid foundation in double bass
performance.
Over the years, Tim Charlier has performed in numerous
concerts across Belgium and participated in orchestral
workshops with internationally renowned double-bassists,
broadening his insight into the life and discipline of
professional musicianship.
Beyond that, Tim views music as a universal language, a
bridge between cultures. His collaborative projects have led
him to discover a wide range of musical traditions: the
enchanting melodies of oriental music, the rhythmic pulse of
afro-jazz, the passionate energy of latin-salsa, and the
earthy groove of rockabilly.
In his creative process, Tim seeks authenticity and
spontaneity, improvising dynamics on written harmonies and
allowing music to flow naturally as a reflection of the
variations happening in the particular space we inhabit.
